Shucks, it’s a wrong turn.
You were looking for a place to drop in inconspicuously. Read about sorcery. Dabble in some yourself.
But you are at work. In a cubicle, of all things!
Now the search history on your browser holds you in contempt. The corporate overlord knows.
Pretty soon, the rest of the day is going to be all lickie-stickies and envelopes.
But wait. Hold on.
This is not a wrong turn.
Because the magic you have been looking for? It has been hiding in plain sight. In the applications you click. The systems you tolerate. The workflows that drain you.
My name is James Zeilenga.
For three years, I’ve worked in legal administrative support–the cubicle’s cubicle. Before that, in a governmental agency. At a security desk. Behind a teller window. Operating a popcorn maker. Hands deep in soap suds and french fry grease. Flipping tables and topping coffee. Watching people live out their lives while I wondered when I lived mine.
That’s when I started looking for the magic hiding in the tools they gave me.
This blog isn’t about more work. It is about your work–done on your terms, with tools that feel like sorcery. The computer applications, the technology, the knowledge.
You have been making “something from nothing” every day.
From a cubicle or a card table, you are already doing it. You are Spelling. Shaping. Transmuting. From your fingertips.
Sounds like magic to me, don’t you agree?
And those overlords pegged you for a cog. You are a wizard. And together we are Wizards in Ties.

I am not here to blind you with certainty. I’m here to walk with you, candle in hand, and show you how the shadows contort.

Pray we carefully stay, cause the dark has a winding way.
